What is an eBike (Electric Bike)?
Updated over a week ago

An eBike features an electric motor that is powered by a rechargeable battery. The most popular system in Australia is the pedelec (or pedal assist) system. You ride a pedelec Ebike by pedalling as normal, but the electric motor adds power to each pedal stroke - flattening out the hills and getting you up to speed with much less effort.

eBikes make it easier to ride further and more often. You can go longer distances, get there faster, easily carry more luggage and arrive in better shape when doing it! You still get an exercise benefit and the simple joy of being on a bike, but the experience is less taxing and something you’ll want to repeat daily.

eBikes are the fastest-growing category of bicycles in the world and have seen a ten-fold increase in Europe over the past six years. Much of this growth has come from increased awareness but also improvements in performance, handling and aesthetics are driven by advances in battery technology.
